Families
If you have concerns about your child’s communication development, we’re here to help.
The process.
Initial Telephone Consultation – free
The first telephone consultation allows us to discuss your concerns about your child’s speech, language and communication skills, and answer any questions you may have. During this call will offer you advice and discuss appropriate next steps.
Assessment Appointment
We aim to see your child for an assessment within two weeks of the initial telephone consultation. Initial assessments are normally carried out in the home or educational setting with both the child and parents or carers present. Alternatively assessments can be carried out using teletherapy (i.e. online).
The aim of this assessment is to gain a detailed understanding of the background and areas of concern. Your child’s communication needs will be screened and initial findings will be discussed at the appointment. Following the assessment you will receive a report summarising the therapist’s observations and recommendations.
Therapy Sessions
Individual therapy sessions are tailored to the specific needs of your child, and usually last around 45 minutes. Sessions can be carried out at home, in nursery or at school, at a mutually agreed time. Alternatively sessions can be carried out using teletherapy (i.e. online). Therapy is target-led and uses games and activities to make sessions fun and motivating.
As part of the therapy process the therapist will liaise with other professionals involved in the child’s care, including education staff and NHS speech and language therapists.
Fees
We aim to provide affordable therapy sessions structured to suit individual needs. As such, fees can vary depending upon the number, frequency, settings of therapy sessions and travel distances involved. Please contact us for more information.
